Case Study - MGB Ventures Enterprise Mobile App

Providing easy and efficient transactions between customers and MGB Ventures Enterprise
Overview
MGB Ventures Enterprise is a key distributor for Nigerian Breweries PLC. MGB sells and supplies products of Nigerian Breweries to retailers, and they seek a way to make transactions between the company and it's customers easier and more efficient.
- The aim of this project is to design an application where users (customers) can manage and carry out transactions easily.
- My role in this projects is a UX Researcher, UX Designer and UI Designer
Problem Statement
Customers need a way to purchase and manage their transactions remotely because, they are often too busy to leave their work place and do it physically.
Design Process
Research
In other to provide solution for the problem, it was important to know how the transactions between MGB Ventures Enterprise and its customers are usually carried out and the experiences of those involved. Relevant staff members and some customers. was interviewed to get a clear picture of what the experience is like and difficulties they encounter.
Transaction process
- On customers arrival, they are directed to the desk of the store keeper where they place their orders manually.
After placing orders, they are issued an invoice and the invoice is taken to the cashier where they make their payment.
- The Cashier confirms the payment and signs the invoice as proof of payment after the customer has made full payment
- The customer then takes the signed invoice back to the store keeper who will then make arrangements to supply the customer.
- The customer will either go with the products he has paid for or make a booking to be supplied at his place of business, this is mostly in cases of bulk purchase.
- After the products are supplied the issued invoice is signed as cleared.
Problem
- Customers complained of delay sometimes, due to the amount of people present trying to get their orders sorted.
- Customers wants to have records of their transactions, purchase and delivery history without always having to go down to the company or having to making calls to the office.
- Members of staff said it sometimes gets overwhelming when there is a lot of customers trying place orders, make payments or book for supply mostly during the festive seasons.
Personas
After concluding my research, I drafted personas to better highlight the goals and frustrations of MGB Ventures Enterprise customers.
Userflow
I created a user flow to help guide me in designing a good user experience for the product.
Sketches
Moving to the visual part of the design, it was important to put my ideas on paper, drawing sketches to have a clear direction of the visuals.
Wireframes
I designed the high fidelity wireframes to help me get a have a close look and feel of how the user experience would be without the distractions of aesthetics
Colour and Typography

Prototype
Onboarding and sign up/sign in - Onboarding screens highlighting the most important features of the app and a simple intuitive login and sign up form.
Placing sales order and proceeding to payment - Users can can select their orders from the different categories and proceed to make payment.
Requesting for product delivery and records - The delivery request process takes the same flow as adding sales order so that users is already familiar with the process.
Records - Users can check for deliveries they have pending and also their order and delivery histories.
Transaction and messages - Money transactions made can be found under transactions and users also have a wallet they can fund for future transactions.
Users will also receive notifications about their purchases and other relevant information.
Account settings - Users will be able to make changes to their account by editing their address, name, email, passwords etc
Key Takeaways
- In the course of the project, I got to understand that in as much as we are trying to provide a pleasant user experience, it shouldn't be done at the expense of the business. We should always strive to strike a balance between business and user goals.
- Initially I tried putting too many features in the product which made it a bit too complex for the users, but eventually I settled on the most important features. With time other features can be included.
- Subsequent times, I'll ensure that I have a minimum viable product planned out so as not to cause to many complications during the design process.
